Beginning in the spring of 2007, the start and end-dates for daylight savings time (DST) for the United States and Canada will change to comply with the Energy Policy Act of 2005. The new DST dates in these countries will start at 2:00 A.M. on Sunday, March 11, 2007 and will end at 2:00 A.M. on Sunday, November 4, 2007.

Microsoft offers Operating System updates to comply with these new dates. However, the rules applied in Microsoft Operating Systems are not "Year" aware. Thus, changes updating the DST for 2007 will also apply to previous years as well as future years. In many applications, this is not a concern. Some GE Fanuc products, involved in data archiving and retrieval will be adversely affected by this change and will return data skewed by an hour during the time of the previous DST date and the new DST date. Other GE Fanuc products (beyond those listed below) do not support automated changes to Daylight Savings and will need to be managed manually.

Each product is impacted in its own unique way. In some cases, nothing is required and in others, transition procedures or upgrades are necessary.
