Relevant Notes
NOTE: Not W2K Compatible due to 3rd party constraints. CABLING: The ELPM and EIM Module support either one of these connections: Coaxial 10 Base2 (Thinnet) Cable Connector OR 10 Base5 Attachment Unit Interface (AUI) 15 pin connector NOTE: Default factory setting uses Coaxial connection. CONFIGURATION LIMITATIONS: Maximum CHANNELS Supported: 8 Maximum DEVICES Supported: 31 Performance: The driver performance was tested with the following testbed: PC: Pentium with 133 Mhz, with 3COM Etherlink III Adaptor HardDisk: 840MB RAM: 32MB FILE TYPE POLL RECORD LENGTH POLLTIME PERIOD NO.OF MSG/SEC Structures 1 Maximum 0 16 Structures 1 Maximum 0 1 40 Basic Types 1 Maximum 0 5 15 Basic Types 1 Maximum 0 1 22 Notes: 1) The average number of messages per second was calculated after at least 1000 messages had been sent. 2) For structures, even though driver allows user to configure a length greater than 1, the protocol does not allow all the structures to be read in with one command. The driver has to send one command each to read I/O and configuration parameters. As an example, if a PID1 type poll record is configured with maximum length (32) and configuration parameters are to be read every poll time, the driver has to send 64 message (32 * 2) to update the entire poll record. 3) We ran a test with one device and one structure type poll record per channel (4 channels). All poll records had a poll time of 0 and period was 1. The average number of messages per second was 76 (19 messages per channel per second). ADDRESS RANGE: MEM TYPE HARDWARE ADDR. RANGE MAX. With Ver 6.10, the maximum length for I-Type has been reduced to 224 (from 244 in Ver. 6.00). This is because if a length of 244 is used, it is found that the last 20 values are not correct. 2. The total maximum number of structures allowed on PLC is 250.
Revision History
Reason for 6.20a Release on 4/10/98: Added multiple messaging to the existing I/O Driver to improve performance on systems that have multiple PLCs. Reason for 6.20b Release on 9/15/98: Corrected problem with negative values not being read correctly. Reason for 6.20c Release on 1/12/99: Corrected problem of not being able to read/write ASCII data. Reason for 6.20d Release on 3/24/99: Updated driver electronic book and on-line help. Reason for 6.20e Release on 5/26/05: * Updated documentation for branding, and fixed documentation spelling of "ALMHYST" to "ALHYST" for the address parameter.

Note: If your firewall blocks ZIPS and EXEs, simply right-click and select SAVE TARGET AS and change the extension to something like "XIP". Once downloaded change the extension back to its original one.
All drivers produced by vendors other than GE ("3rd Party Drivers") are provided by GE "as is" and without warranty of any kind unless the vendor extends a pass-through warranty to the end user. Support for 3rd Party Drivers is provided by the driver's vendor.
